DS at India Day 2025!
The city's largest India Day festival took place on August 24th 2025. India day is a power packed celebration of Indian culture and India’s independence. This event is hosted by the Indian Cultural Association and brings the city together with a full day of performances and fun for people of all ages. From Bollywood to contemporary to classical dances and music that reflect the diversity of Indian culture and the colorful spirit of its independence. The performances are something nobody should miss! The festival also featured local businesses such as Apna Bazaar, India Connection and Swagat which served delicious food from all over India such as Dosa, Samosa, and Kulfi. They had something for everyone to enjoy. India Day Portland is a chance not only to celebrate India’s rich culture and history but also a chance to deepen the connection between India and the Pacific Northwest.
I always look forward to the India Day festival. My family and I haven’t missed the event in the last 6 years. We try to go early so we get the best view of the event from the front. I just love how Portland comes together to celebrate Indian Culture. It reminds me of how in India we all celebrate festivals together. I enjoy all the different performances and love the unique way they showcase India’s unique culture. My personal favorite part of the festival is definitely the high energy bollywood dances. The beats of the song made me dance along! Something unique I enjoyed this year was the magic show because it was something I had never seen at the India Day Festival. I felt it was a nice addition to all of the great performances. All in all, the India Day Festival is definitely my favorite event in Portland!
