Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge
Four students from the Beaverton School District have earned national recognition in the 2025 Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge, one of the country’s most prestigious STEM competitions for middle school students. The students named among the Top 300 Junior Innovators are Aditi Dhananjay and Sahasra Kamisetti from Stoller Middle School, Eugene Kim from Westview High School, and Sarah Selleck-Castellanos from the Beaverton Academy of Science and Engineering (BASE).
The Junior Innovators Challenge is organized by Society for Science and is designed to spotlight the most promising middle school students in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. More than 1,800 students from across the United States entered the competition this year, and the Top 300 were selected based on their performance in affiliated regional science fairs, as well as the creativity, scientific rigor, and potential impact of their submitted projects.
Students selected for the Top 300 represent a wide range of scientific interests and often go on to compete for further honors in the final rounds of the challenge. Being named to this list is an early indicator of leadership in STEM and is considered a significant academic achievement at the middle school level.
The Beaverton School District congratulates these students on this national honor and acknowledges their hard work and dedication to scientific inquiry.
